The Best of ITS Heartland Awards are sponsored by ITS Heartland to recognize an outstanding ITS Project and an outstanding ITS Product or Service to ITS Heartland. Winners will receive an award and recognition at the ITS Heartland Annual Meeting.

Award Categories

Best ITS Project in the ITS Heartland Region (IA, KS, MO, NE, OK) – All projects, including research and study, submitted must be completed and/or operational within the 5-state region of ITS Heartland within the last year.  Projects can involve, but are not limited to traveler safety and security, emergency services, traveler information, traffic management, transit and mobility, infrastructure operations and maintenance technologies, fleet operations, commercial vehicle operations, connected/autonomous vehicles, software applications, and TSMO.

Best ITS Product or Service in the ITS Heartland Region (IA, KS, MO, NE, OK) – Applications should include a new and/or recent ITS product, service, or training program that exhibits the greatest innovation and benefit to consumers, users, public safety, security, surface transportation efficiency, etc.  Products must demonstrate a design that furthers the development and/or deployment of ITS applications, as well as specific outcomes that result from the product or service
